gorgeous got a gun is the pursuit of growth, it is playing your music loud, it is universal possibilities, it is the coming of age. It is young minds. It is old souls. It is self empowerment.

Singer-songwriter Veronica Renée Torres formed GGG in 2008 to have a home to express songs under more than just her own name and also to host a revolving door to various band members to play on the project. The Los Angeles native wanted to build a like-minded community paying homage to empowerment. "There are ups and downs, mistakes and greatness made on the road to empowering yourself in this life. Most of my songwriting in GGG is centered around this idea."

GGG's self titled debut album was released in 2009, followed by a 2011 release of three song EP "Welcome Home," produced by Joe McGrath (Alkaline Trio, AFI). In 2016, GGG released three new singles, "I Remember You," "Uncovering" and "The World Won't Wait." gorgeous got a gun is a rock band with soul currently working on a third record.

I remember you

Originally written as an idea for a television series, this track was the first in a series that inspired me to start writing again. Having taken a couple years off to focus on experiencing life, rather than documenting experiences, I had lost some inspiration. Partially sprung from a small taste of jade that comes with living and learning more about your craft, I was in sort of a mood. But this song had a purpose and a deadline behind it and I found myself writing the lyrics and melody naturally.

Imagine looking at your face in a mirror introspectively and talking to that person in the glass. What questions do we ask ourselves in that sobering moment of truth? Are we really living life to our full potential? Do we remember the dreams we all had at a younger age and how real they were? Where did they go? This first song is about remembering and asking personal questions that bring you to an uncomfortable situation. Because lets face it, uncomfortableness is the key to growth.

Hey girl where you been? Are you tired of hiding? Covered in sin, are you showing me your inside?
I remember you, I remember you, lord I remember you, but do you remember me?
Hey girl where you been? Are you tired of lying? In the washroom of your soul, your spirit grows old.
I remember you, I remember you, lord I remember you, but do you remember me?
Wash it away now over you, wash it away now over you, over you.

Uncovering

So we got the uncomfortable part out of the way. We can fully remember the things that fuel our being. Now we are at the uncovering stage. Much of this idea was sprung by reading a book by Jon Acuff. He said when searching one's self, we are not trying to recover who we are. Instead, we need to uncover the things we are naturally good at. What skills can we uncover when aiming to be our best self? This song is also quite inspired by the need people feel to cover up depression/anxiety/boredom with material, selfish things. I found myself becoming more and more guilty of this and realized how empty I was inside when I did this.

I don't need another THING, I only need the things that inspire me. The repetitiveness at the end is to really drive this message home but also to serve as a reminder to myself every time I sing the words. This song is about reaching into your animal instinct, which as humans is one of our greatest gifts. The business and technology in our lives tends to block this natural instinct, distracting us from our true callings in life. We need to do work on Uncovering them.

Waiting on a melody, something that might change me.
And I don't need another thing, consumer mind mentality.
Welcome to the sun, drink up everyone, we've got places to go.
It comes so naturally, find it in your genes when you are uncovering.
Stop, let it go, find a way, hit the ball when you play.
Because we are all, instinctual creatures looking for some fun.
Welcome to the sun, drink up everyone, we've got places to go.
It comes so naturally, find it in your genes when you are uncovering.
I don't need another thing chosen by the people of society,
I only need the things that inspire me, giving me the strength for uncovering.

The World Won't Wait

Sprung from the idea of UNCOVERING and digging into your natural instinct, this song is an anthem to the yearning for this mentality in the world we live in today. Today's culture is greatly influenced by social media. Many people are defined by their online presence. This song is begging for some new ideas and for someone to impress us again. It calls for people to actually feel something in their lives.

The song also describes how fragile time is and how important it is to spend our time uncovering the things that make us inspire. Being inspired is a great thing but inspiring others is a greater thing. We are a speck in the universe but that speck is affecting many other people. I continue to work on embracing this idea in my life because the The World Won't Wait!

Inside of me I knew I could, inside of me I knew you would, following, following.
Take a breath, strike the match, now take it with a photograph, to tell them how you're feeling.
Because you know it's been too long if it's too good to be true, these pictures talk and they're coming after you.
We've been waiting too long for someone to come around and knock us off our feet.
We've been sitting too much with our foot in our mouths, it's time to stand up and do something!
You're just like the rest of them, skinny and trembling, no one's been feeding you.
So take some time to make it, take your little heart and break it, come on and leave something for this world.
Because you know it's been too long if it's too good to be true, these pictures talk and they're coming after you.
We've been waiting too long for someone to come around and knock us off our feet.
We've been sitting too much with our foot in our mouths, it's time to stand up and do something!
It all works out, you tell yourself...
so take the time you need to uncover,
once you find it, it's unlike any other,
the world is not gonna wait for you now baby, baby.
